Airline Meals Get A Lift In A Cookbook Released By United

Rarely has anyone ever landed from a long flight and wished they could recreate the airline meal they ate at home. However, despite the late Anthony Bourdain suggesting that we all skip out on airplane food altogether, United seemed to find a market for those who were enchanted by some of the meals they have while hovering over the clouds. Of course, the few of us who have been privileged to experience how the other half lives may have found more satisfaction in the fare served in first class.

With that in mind, United Airlines has decided to not only upgrade the food that they serve to business and first class passengers, they’ve also decided to release a cookbook that will help you make some of these dishes at home. These days, the food served towards the front of the plane leans more heavily on chef-inspired dishes, rather than salads that are too awful for even the least picky eater to stomach.

“The United Polaris cookbook was created by United chefs in partnership with chefs from The Trotter Project,” a company representative explained in a statement. “The 40 recipes are inspired by the United Polaris business class experience. A portion of proceeds will be donated to The Trotter Project to continue its mission of inspiring the next generation of culinary professionals.”

While most of us probably don’t fly enough to enjoy repeat menu items back in the economy cabin, when you fly regularly for work, it’s probably a selling point that you won’t be stuck with the same few dishes for an entire year. As the airline mentions on its website, for those privileged flyers, the menu changes every month, giving them a number of options when it comes to what they should feature in their cookbook. It looks like other airlines will soon be following in United’s footsteps.
