If you’re the kind of person that loves to eat good food and experiment in the kitchen, you might be pretty familiar with pickling. Although it’s super easy to preserve your food in the freezer or going through the motions of pressure canning, it’s fair to say that there’s nothing quite like pickling your own food – especially when pickles are involved. Of course, you can just head to the grocery store and buy your own dill pickles, but where’s the fun in that?

What You’ll Need
Preserving food can be a messy and expensive business sometimes, but that’s certainly not the case when it comes to making your own dill pickles. All you’ll need is a jar to keep your pickles in, the correct ingredients, and around 15 minutes of your time. So, what ingredients do you need? To make the perfect dill pickles, you’ll need 1 cup of water, 1 ¼ cup of distilled white vinegar, 3 tablespoons of sugar, 2 tablespoons of Kosher salt, 4 cloves of peeled and crushed garlic, 1 pound of pickling cucumbers, and 3 sprigs of dill.

What You Need To Do
When you have all of the necessary ingredients, it’s time to put your plan into action. In a pan, pour your white vinegar, water, salt, sugar, and garlic. Then, heat it on a low heat and stir continuously until you see that the sugar has dissolved. Once you have done this, place the pickles and the dill in your jar and pour over the warm brine. Let the brine cool, and then pop on the lid. You should then keep the pickles in the refrigerator.
