Brussels sprouts are delicious and healthy, making them perfect for any meal. However, they can seem quite tricky to make. If they’re not cooked for long enough, Brussels sprouts will be too soft and mushy. However, if they’re cooked for too long, Brussels sprouts will become hard and too chewy. Don’t worry, we’ve got two perfect recipes for you that will make sure these vegetables turn out just right!

Preparing Brussels Sprouts

Regardless of what recipe you decide to use, you want to prepare the Brussels sprouts to be cooked. First, wash them thoroughly, making sure to remove any dirt. Then, pat them dry and peel off any leaves that are yellowing. Lastly, trim the stem and cut the Brussels sprouts either in halves or quarters, depending on their size and the recipe you’re using. Now, you’re ready to get cooking!

Steamed Brussels Sprouts

In order to make steamed Brussels sprouts, you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • 2 lbs. Brussels sprouts, halved
  • ¾ cup water
  • ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbs. olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Juice from ½ lemon

Next, follow these steps for perfectly steamed Brussels sprouts:

  • Mix the Brussels sprouts with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  • Pour water into an instant pot, and then put the Brussels sprouts into the instant pot.
  • Cook on high until the Brussels sprouts are soft but firm enough in texture that they’re not mushy – this should take roughly 1-2 minutes.
  • Remove the Brussels sprouts from the instant pot, add some lemon juice and Parmesan cheese, and serve!

Crispy Brussels Sprouts

If you prefer for your Brussels sprouts to be on the crispier side, gather the following ingredients:

  • 2 lbs. Brussels sprouts
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbs. olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Juice from ½ lemon

Then, follow these directions:

  • Mix all the Brussels sprouts, Parmesan cheese, olive oil, salt, pepper, and lemon juice together.
  • Grease the bottom of the air fryer basket with olive oil. Put the Brussels sprouts in the basket, cut side down.
