The banana split is a timeless dessert that has people all over the world licking their lips. We think these might just be the best banana split recipes of all time.
Classic Banana Split
The classic banana split couldn’t be easier to make. You’ll need a scoop of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream, and a generous helping of whipped cream. Add the ice cream to a banana that has been split lengthways, and toss over some chopped nuts. Put the whipped cream on top, heat up some hot fudge sauce, and decorate with maraschino cherries.
Breakfast Banana Split
The way we look at it, if there’s fruit involved, then it can be breakfast. This breakfast banana split combines the taste of the classic dessert and adds familiar early morning flavors. Instead of using ice cream, swap it for some natural yogurt. Then, instead of using chocolate sauce, you can create your own fruit sauce to drizzle over.
To make the sauce, take some fresh strawberries and blueberries, plus a third of a cup of sugar and a third of a cup of water. Combine the sugar and water in a pan, add your strawberries and blueberries, and after about five minutes, you’ve got your sauce. Split your banana and place your favorite fruits in the middle, with walnuts and granola.
Banana Split Pops
Everything tastes better on a stick, even a banana split. To make these handheld delights take four bananas and cut them in half. Insert popsicle sticks into your banana and freeze for two hours.
Once your bananas have been in the freezer for two hours, heat some chocolate with a tbsp of coconut oil for 30 seconds in the microwave. Fill a bowl with sprinkles. Dip your frozen bananas in the chocolate, then the sprinkles bowl. Freeze for a further 15 minutes until the chocolate hardens and add whipped cream and a cherry on the top.
So, which one will you try first?
