You’ve cooked up the perfect dish, but something is missing. All your food needs is a little seasoning. However, buying those big jars for them to sit in the pantry for years can seem like a waste. So what about if these mini packs of spices were about to put an end to it all?
Replacing The Packaging
No longer do you have to worry about those large jars taking up all that space. Occo is looking to sell card-sized herb packages with 12 chambers filled with spices instead. But how do they stop us from wasting food?

All You Need
The packages are designed to hold everything we need. The herbs are pre-packaged into 1/4 teaspoon servings that are ready to use. All you need to do is peel back the lid of however many you need and add it to the dish. It’s that simple!
Plenty Of Options
So far, Occo has 12 herbs and spices on the market, including chili powder, cinnamon, and oregano. No longer will you have to run to the store and buy a whole jar of spices only to use one teaspoon. Now, they will all be right where we need them at any time.

Preventing Any Issues
We should be replacing our herbs and spices every three to six months. Not only does this keep them fresh, but they can go bad after an extended time in the sun and even be the cause of some food-related illnesses. After all, will we really use the entire jar in those few months?
Helping The Planet
Not only does Occo hope to help reduce plenty of food waste with their idea, but the company also wants to help the planet in other ways, too. The packages are made out of aluminum meaning it is easy to recycle around the world.

Kickstarting It All
Occo’s idea is currently being funded by a Kickstarter campaign as the company hopes to raise enough money to launch their product. However, people can already pre-order their spices for $15 and are expected to receive their delivery in June 2019.
Sometimes, it can be the small changes that make the biggest differences. Thankfully, this cooking swap could be about to stop food waste all around the world while still giving us what we need.
